John Merchant / Owner

I'm John Merchant, the owner and main artist at Dark Timez Tattoo and Piercings. My journey into tattooing began after a rough childhood, which included time spent in juvenile detention. In 2010, I faced 17 felony charges and found myself at a pivotal point in my life. That's when I discovered tattooing—a passion that not only saved me but also gave me a new lease on life.

For over 13 years, I've been dedicated to the art of tattooing. It's kept me on the right path and helped me grow into the person I am today. Tattooing is more than just a job for me; it's something I love deeply. Every day, I wake up excited to create art that brings joy to others, which in turn, brings joy to me.

My journey was greatly influenced by my friend and mentor, Joel McDonald. He taught me the importance of maintaining a clean and sterile environment and how to effectively communicate with clients. I believe tattooing is not just about creating beautiful designs, but also about providing a memorable experience for my clients.

Throughout my career, I've been fortunate to win multiple awards at tattoo shows, which is a testament to my dedication and skill. Today, I run my own shop, Dark Timez Tattoo and Piercings, and continue to turn my passion into reality. My story is a reminder that no matter where you start in life, with determination and hard work, you can achieve your dreams!

Kayla Merchant / Owner / piercer

I'm Kayla Merchant, the piercing artist at Dark Timez Tattoo and Piercings. Growing up, I faced a challenging childhood, living with my grandparents while my parents dealt with their own struggles. Despite the difficulties, I always had a fascination with piercings and tattoos.

Initially, I pursued a career as a Licensed Medical Assistant, which I enjoyed. However, after marrying my husband and becoming a stay-at-home mom to our two children, I found myself yearning for something new. That's when I decided to ask my husband to teach me the art of piercing. Little did I know, it would become a passion that I absolutely love.

Every day, I wake up excited to go to work, knowing that I'll be doing something awesome that can make a positive impact on someone's life. Helping people feel good about themselves through a piercing is incredibly rewarding. It's not just about the piercing itself, but about empowering individuals and giving them something to feel proud of.

Matt Murphy

I'm Matt Murphy, a tattoo artist at Dark Timez Tattoo and Piercings, and art has always been my guiding light, especially through a challenging childhood. From drawing to painting and now tattooing, creativity has been my constant companion and passion.

My specialty lies in photo realism and color realism, with a particular focus on portraits and full-color pieces. What sets my work apart is my unique approach—I draw every tattoo directly on the skin with a sharpie, bypassing traditional stencils. This method allows me to create truly personalized and dynamic art, a skill that few artists possess.

Over the years, I've been honored with hundreds of awards, a testament to my dedication and talent in the art of tattooing. Each piece I create is a collaboration with my clients, bringing their visions to life in a way that is both unique and meaningful.
